Inktober 2019

It’s Inktober month! For those who aren’t familiar with it, Jake Parker created Inktober in 2009 as a personal challenge to improve his drawing skills. Since then, it has grown into a worldwide movement, with thousands of artists participating each year. I’ve taken part a couple of times before, but I usually created random drawings.

This year, I decided to follow the official Inktober prompt list. I chose birds as my inspiration for every prompt, which led me to do quite a bit of research. Along the way, I learned so much about different bird species and their unique characteristics. Most of the pieces were painted with watercolors, and I occasionally used brush pens and white gel pens for highlights. A few of the artworks were created digitally on my iPad.

Art supplies used:

  • King Art Dual Tip Brush Pens
  • White Sakura Gelly Roll Pens
  • Pentel Brush Pen
  • Copic Drawing Pen
